About SCB Clinics

SCB has been in partnership with The Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission since 2009 conducting basketball clinics under the umbrella of Prince George’s County Parks and Recreation. Sonia Chase created these clinics to provide a top-notch structured program for players looking for developmental, progressive, advanced, and peformance training. Clinics are in session each Saturday of the month (with the exception of some holiday weekends).

There are three goals for SCB clinics

To help players build a strong platform in the developmental and progressive stages of learning the game

To instill SCB’s core values: Coachability, Communication, Confidence, Hard Work & Discipline, Leadership, Responsibility, Sportsmanship & Fair Play, and Teamwork

To teach and challenge players in a fun and encouraging environment

SCB has 2 Customized Clinic Programs within its “in-person” Traditional Training Basketball System (TTBS) to help make YOU an elite player and prepare you for next-level opportunities.

There are 5 levels to this program including Developmental, Progressive, Advanced, Performance, and Pro.  The Developmental Program is geared toward youth ages and abilities of 3-5, the Progressive Program is geared toward player’s ages and abilities of 6-9, the Advanced Program is geared toward player’s ages and abilities ages 10-14, the Performance Program is geared toward player’s ages and abilities of 15-18, and the Pro Program is centered around player’s ages and abilities of 19 and older.  The levels enable players to be grouped by ability based on a variety of measurable skill sets. Players advance to the next level by mastering competencies within a defined skill set, completing a skill’s challenge, and receiving a passing evaluation from a SCB Certified Instructor. Each level has a color name and each player is given a color-coded wristband to wear to their weekly session. The curriculum is customized for the skill level of each class color. There are two levels in the Developmental rank (Yellow Level and Green Level), two levels in the Progressive rank (Orange Level and Blue Level), three levels in the Advanced rank (Purple Level, Red Level, White Level), two levels in the Performance rank (Black Level and Silver Level), and one level in the Pro rank (Gold Level), all with progressive skill challenges involving footwork, physical conditioning, mental conditioning, basketball IQ, advanced training techniques, competitive games, and overall basketball skill development. Players must practice and ultimately complete these challenges before graduating to the next level.
