SONIA CHASE BASKETBALL TRAINING
DEVELOPING PLAYERS TO NOT ONLY COMPETE ON THE COURT, BUT ALSO IN LIFE!
Just wanted to thank you guys for bringing in Coach Chase to conduct her camp at Bowies City Gym, and giving my son and daughter the opportunity to become better players. I have twins and they are very competitive. Right off the back the staff challenged my kids. My son was particularly challenged with his shooting and my daughter with her ball handling. They were both provided the foundation to help them improve their skills and much of it had to do with their confidence. The lessons learned were invaluable and will benefit them for the rest of their lives. Thanks again for all that you do and for being so Passionate about the most important aspect of the game – Confidence!

I was impressed how Ms. Chase and her staff kept the campers engaged with demonstration and explanations to why we practice basketball skills. I think so many times we as coaches have our players perform drills that are meant to improve skill, but if the player doesn't understand the purpose they just go through the motions and don't get a lot out of it. Each player saw and understood why these drills were going to make them better and every camper showed tremendous effort to succeed. I recommend the NIKE basketball camp to any player who simply wants exposure to college coaches and to learn the game at an advanced level.

Once again, the NIKE camp you held at Bowie City Gym was excellent! I am glad there are mentors like you out there to teach kids this game and try to break the bad habits they have acquired. Thank you for that. My son Alex really enjoyed it and he said he learned new drills that he can practice in the off-season. It was also fun just watching the kids have a good time.

The NIKE Basketball camp was one of the best sports experiences my son has had. The encouraging atmosphere set by Coach Chase in the beginning of the camp and the camaraderie among the athletes was great! The skills that the student-athletes learned are both practical and easy to recreate at home for further practice. Coach Chase’s staff members are also great with the kids. I would highly recommend this camp to any basketball player as way to improve and to learn some life lessons through sports.

Coach Chase’s camp at Lake Arbor Community Center was the most informative camp that I have ever seen! Coach Chase and her awesome staff enjoyed teaching these kids and it showed. I learned just as much as the kids did and came away with a whole new skill routine. I wish my entire team could do the camp because they would truly benefit from the fundamental teaching and patience of the staff members. Ms. Chase made everything seem so easy and taught the kids not to be afraid to fail. Excellent camp and I would send my daughter to this again and again. Please inform me about any more upcoming camps.

Next-Level Basketball Program (NLBP) – There are 5 levels to this program including Developmental, Progressive, Advanced, Performance, and Pro. The Developmental Program is geared toward player’s ages and abilities of 3 – 5 years old, the Progressive Program is geared toward player’s ages and abilities of 6 – 11 years old, the Advanced Program is geared toward player’s ages and abilities of 12 – 17 years old, the Performance Program is geared toward player’s ages and abilities of 18 – 21 years old, and the Pro Program is centered around player’s ages and abilities of 22 years and older. The levels enable players to be grouped by ability based on a variety of measurable skill sets. Players advance to the next level by mastering competencies within a defined skill set, completing a skill’s challenge, and receiving a passing evaluation from a SCB Certified Instructor. Each level has a color name and each player is given a color-coded wristband to wear to their weekly session. The curriculum is customized for the skill level of each class color. There are two levels in the Developmental rank (Yellow Level and Green Level), two levels in the Progressive rank (Orange Level and Blue Level), three levels in the Advanced rank (Purple Level, Red Level, White Level), two levels in the Performance rank (Black Level and Silver Level), and one level in the Pro-Status rank (Gold Level), all with progressive skill challenges involving footwork, conditioning, basketball IQ, and basketball development. Players must practice and ultimately complete these challenges before graduating to the next level.

Sports Performance Training focuses on speed, agility, and quickness better know as SAQ (Speed, Agility, and Quickness) Training. When training for basketball, a player must use a two-part approach including on-court basketball training and SAQ training to become an ELITE PLAYER.
S = Speed is defined as the maximum velocity a player can achieve and maintain; most humans can only maintain this maximum velocity for a short period of time and over a short distance. Speed can also be measured by the amount of time it takes a player to cover a set distance. Training to improve maximum speed requires an accurate focus on correct running mechanics, stride length, and stride frequency. The best sprinters spend very little time in contact with the ground, but the contact they do make is extremely efficient and powerful. By focusing on the mechanics of running helps to control this power to apply it efficiently and sparingly. Arm mechanics play a major role in efficient running form; good arm mechanics helps maintain leg speed and allow the player to switch to different speeds through a balanced running action between the upper and lower body.
A = Agility is the ability to change direction without loss of balance, strength, speed, or body control. There is a direct link between improved agility and the development of an individual’s timing, rhythm, and body movement. Training to improve agility ensures that a basketball player develops the best offensive and defensive skills possible with the greatest quickness, speed and control, wile exerting the least amount of wasted energy and movement. Good agility levels can also help prevent injuries and control the movement of the body and joints as efficiently as possible without causing a ‘jarring’ affect.
Q = Quickness is the act of acceleration that occurs in a fraction of a second and takes the body from a static position to motion. The muscles involved actually lengthen and then shorten instantaneously (an eccentric contraction followed by a concentric contraction). This process is known as the stretch shortening cycle and SAQ training principles concentrates on the neuromuscular system that is related to this process; it ensures the initial movement, whether lateral, linear or vertical, is automatic, explosive and accurate. Quickness training involves repeating the same explosive movement over a short period of time, such as fast footsteps and line drills. It moves the body quickly through the gears promoting an explosion of speed that can be integrated within game situations to give the player that essential explosion to the basket.
